The George Family - Hinton, OK
Our love for the Shorthorn Breed and the youth involved in showing cattle motivate us to provide affordable quality show animals to help promote the quantity and quality of shorthorns represented at youth livestock shows.
We are a small town family whose interest in shorthorns goes back to the days of our father's youth. He showed shorthorns as a teenager and the highlight of his showing career was having the Champion Market Shorthorn Steer at "OYE" Oklahoma City in the spring of 1981.
Always dreaming of raising Purebred Shorthorns, Greg finally starting realizing his dream when he purchased a herd bull in June of 2010. Then 16 heavy bred cows were purchased, which came from the George Ahlschwede herd from San Angelo, TX that were bred to Polar Express. We have retained the heifers born from that purchase and have aquired three new heifers in the spring of 2012, two from Robinette Family Cattle/Kolt Cattle Co. and one from WHR's Lone Star XVIII sale to continue growing our herd of quality registered shorthorn cattle. We are also excited about the future of our herd with the purchase of embryos from DF WACO 6W ET*x and D&D MARGIE'S BEAUTY 610S ET *x. Hunter lives on the cattle ranch and performs the operations of a caring herdsman, ensuring quality care and nutrition of our herd.
It is our goal to continue improving our herd quality and quantity in the future. Our first goal is to raise a Breed Champion at the OKC Youth Expo and Tulsa State Fair. We look forward to working with youth interested in showing Shorthorn cattle and helping them realize their dream of raising and showing a Champion. Thanks for viewing our website and we look forward to visiting with you in the near future.
